About coaching
Mental health coaching is a forward-focused, collaborative process that helps you notice patterns, build skills, and create meaningful change in your life. Unlike therapy, coaching does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions—it supports growth, resilience, and practical skill building inside a structured supportive relationship. Think curated conversation plus tools, not clinical assessment.
Therapy (with a licensed clinician) often centers diagnosis, symptom reduction, and clinically supervised treatment of mental health conditions. Coaching explores present-moment goals, values, resilience, and pragmatic next steps. I do not diagnose, treat, or prescribe. If you’re in active crisis or need medical care, we’ll route you to crisis lines or licensed providers—coaching can still complement therapy when appropriate.
Yes—many clients pair therapy and coaching deliberately. With your written permission, I can collaborate lightly with your therapist so both containers align with your goals.
No paperwork prerequisite. Some clients are brand new to intentional self-inquiry; others have encyclopedic treatment histories. Both are fine if you’re presently seeking coaching’s scope of practice.
About qualifications
No. I am a certified mental health coach, not a psychologist, therapist, or clinical social worker. Transparency matters; if you need regulated treatment, I celebrate you getting it.
You’ll find specifics on the About page. Training threads include trauma-informed facilitation, somatically aware coaching, ethics, and positive psychology interventions—updated regularly as I learn.
Yes. I stay accountable through ongoing consultation, continuing education, and ethical mentorship—customize this sentence to reflect your exact structures.
The process
Schedule a free 15–20 minute discovery call on the Book a Session page. We’ll clarify fit, logistics, and pacing with zero pressure tactics.
We greet your whole self, land on a mutually agreed focus, explore with tools or conversation, then close with integration. Sessions are 50 minutes by default and happen on secure video platforms.
Many people begin weekly, then stretch to biweekly as nervous system capacity grows—but your budget and calendar lead. We calibrate continuously.
Anywhere from a handful of sessions to longer arcs; we review fit and impact together so you never owe an endless stack of sessions.
Virtually for now—clients join from home offices, parked cars, closets with fairy lights—whatever private pocket you can carve. That keeps geography from being a gatekeeper.
Cost & logistics
Refresh exact numbers anytime on Services. Expect transparent session and package tiers plus intentionally limited sliding-scale spots.
No—coaching doesn’t operate inside insurance coding the way therapy claims do. Receipts happily provided; some HSAs or FSAs cover coaching—please verify eligibility with your administrator.
Google Appointment Scheduling keeps everything self-service—book, reschedule, or cancel directly. Aim for ≥24-hour notice whenever possible so your slot opens for someone else who may be waiting.
Google Meet or Zoom—whichever aligns with accessibility needs; links arrive with confirmations.
Trauma-specific considerations
Regulation first, processing second—we slow, ground, widen focus, pause entirely if needed. Redirecting is wisdom, not failure.
Never required. Powerful insights often bloom when we scaffold present-moment noticing without graphic rehashing—you guide disclosure depth fully.
Coaching waits offstage while stabilization leads. Dial 988, text the same short code, summon trusted local emergency responders, or head to urgent care—you deserve rapid clinical care and community safety nets crises demand.
